One focus for the days we were together was to paint on site,
outdoors. Medford offered "the Grapes" unlimited opportunities
to enjoy the beautiful weather while creating art. Not all
of the artists were comfortable with on-site painting, but
they knew they were among friends and there was lots to learn.

Everyone loved the Madrone Trees, especially Colleen. Until
now, many of"The Grapes" didn't know where she got her ideas
about red trees.

Colleen is painting a stand of Madrone trees in a cemetary
in Jacksonville, Oregon.

Mark found an old stump to lean on while sketching, but had
to get up every now and then to shake ants out of his pants.

Mike and Colleen find a good spot by the Rogue River. Boaters
and campers said that this must be a good spot since the artists'
were there.

Colleen and Mark have found a cool spot in the 104º
temperatures. The rock outcropping overlooking a rushing river
brought the temps down by 20º. "The Grapes" took over
the lookout and enjoyed a long afternoon of painting.

Peggy hasn't done outdoor painting in a long time, but really
got into the spirit of the day.

The paintings were bright and light, catching the mood of
the day.

Judy said that she didn't want to paint, but she did make
some grand contributions to her famous sketchbook.
